ROOTS Education helps high-school CTE programs, colleges, technical schools, workforce organizations, and industry partners create hands-on semiconductor technician pathways. The SEMI Series connects industrial-style equipment, applied curriculum, automation, instructor development, and implementation support in an education-focused learning environment.
Students move beyond diagrams to explore procedures, controls, measurements, material handling, troubleshooting, and automation. Each implementation is planned around learner readiness, facilities, faculty, employer needs, funding requirements, and regional talent priorities.

The SEMI Series represents the connected toolchain of a wafer fab in an education-ready setting. Programs can introduce core processes, develop equipment and automation skills, and build progressively more complex technician competencies.
The exact processes, equipment, and depth of instruction depend on the selected configuration and course design. The proposal should distinguish physical processing from simulation or concept-based instruction.
The ROOTS SEMI cleanroom configuration includes a training shell, gowning vestibule, dual-entry doors, grid-mounted HEPA filtration, ionizers, amber lighting, and PLC/HMI controls. Its overhead grid is open, without ceiling panels. These features are documented in the ROOTS SEMI Cleanroom Operations Manual. Equipment and site requirements are confirmed for each project; no ISO cleanroom classification is claimed.
Process stations are scoped separately. The manual references etch, photolithography, wet-process, metrology, assembly, and robotics equipment documented elsewhere; the selected stations and supplied materials must be identified in your project scope.
In an instructor-led activity, students can identify room subsystems, observe an instructor-selected status display, compare it with an approved lesson reference, and log a concern for the instructor—without changing settings. This illustrates how observation, documentation, and escalation connect; it is not a standard included lesson or permission for independent operation. Activities and supervision must match learner readiness.
Potential pathways include equipment, process, automation, maintenance, and manufacturing technician roles. Hiring requirements vary by employer and region.

Instructor preparation should address equipment orientation, approved activities, student-access boundaries, assessment, inspection records, and escalation to qualified maintenance staff. Confirm supplied materials, training duration, delivery arrangements, and post-launch support in the agreed scope.
Training can support fulfillment toward relevant SAT and Universal Robots e-Series requirements and preparation toward applicable SACA, MSSC, NIMS, OSHA, and Six Sigma credentials. Credential availability and eligibility are determined by the issuing organization and the institution’s approved course structure.
The modular approach supports phased planning as enrollment, employer needs, funding, and faculty capacity grow.
ROOTS can help organize technical specifications, curriculum scope, instructor development, and implementation plans for opportunities involving CHIPS-related initiatives, Perkins V, WIOA, EDA programs, and applicable state or regional capital funding.
Funding eligibility and allowable costs are always determined by the applicable agency, program rules, and award terms. ROOTS supports planning and documentation but does not guarantee funding.

The ROOTS SEMI Cleanroom Operations Manual specifies a 20 ft × 24 ft training shell and a 7 ft × 12 ft gowning vestibule. These are dimensions of the documented configuration, not the total room requirement for every installation. Process stations, optional side areas, accessible circulation, working clearances, storage, and maintenance access affect the layout. Approved installation drawings govern.
Confirm electrical loads, network access, and configuration-specific air, vacuum, water, drainage, ventilation, and environmental needs with ROOTS and your facilities/safety teams. Not every service is required. This educational reference design does not establish cleanroom performance certification or commercial device-production capability.
